Abstract
Aspergillus arcoverdensis, a new Aspergillus isolated from semi-desert soil in caatinga area, State of Pernambuco, Brazil, are described and illustrated.
Aspergillus arcoverdensis is characterized by its, relatively long conidiophores in Aspergillus section Fumigati, and subglobose to broadly elliptical and smooth conidia. The validation of this new species is supported further by analyses of the ?-tubulin, calmodulin and actin gene sequences.
