To evaluate this phylogenetic identification and other three previous morphological identifications, we performed a combined phylogenetic analysis using sequences of rRNA gene ITS, ?-tubulin, translation elongation factor 1 alpha (EF1-?) and cox1. The result of previous phylogenetic analysis was in line with the present study, but morphologically identified eggplant strain was phylogenetically re-identified as P. glovera and two tulip strains as P. rosacearum and P. gregata. The re-identified species P. glovera, P. rosacearum and P. gregata are new to Japan, adding to the Phytophthora biodiversity in this country.}
