Abstract
Obolarina persica sp. nov. is described from Iran. It is widely associated with dying Quercus brantii, but no attempts by inoculations, etc. have been done to determine the role of this fungus in the disease. The fungus described herein differs from the other described species, Obolarina dryophila, primarily in its much larger ascospores.
