Abstract
In this study, we investigated the taxonomic identities and phylogenetic relationships of a new species, Ophiocordyceps mizoramensis, isolated from Mizoram using a combination of morphological and molecular phylogenetic analysis with nuclear ribosomal DNA sequences, including both the internal transcribed spacers (ITS1 and ITS2) and the 5.8S gene region. The pathogenic fungus Ophiocordyceps mizoramensis infected the host Polistes olivaceus (paper wasp) causing death to the whole colony within the hive.
Keywords
Ophiocordyceps, Phylogenetic analysis, Polymerase chain reaction.
