It is well circumscribed by having a basidiome with decurrent and distant white gills with evident pink-lilac tinges at maturity, well developed cheilocystidia, and echinulate globose spores. The study includes a description, color photographs of fresh basidiomes and line drawings of relevant microscopic traits. N. dominicanus is very close to Neopaxillus echinospermus, the type species of the genus Neopaxillus. Based on comparative ITS-LSU rDNA gene sequence analyses, Neopaxillus, a genus formerly placed in Boletales, is considered within Agaricales and it is basal or sister to Crepidotus (Crepidotaceae).}

Abstract
A new Neopaxillus, viz. N. dominicanus, is reported from the Dominican Republic. It is well circumscribed by having a basidiome with decurrent and distant white gills with evident pink-lilac tinges at maturity, well developed cheilocystidia, and echinulate globose spores. The study includes a description, color photographs of fresh basidiomes and line drawings of relevant microscopic traits. N. dominicanus is very close to Neopaxillus echinospermus, the type species of the genus Neopaxillus. Based on comparative ITS-LSU rDNA gene sequence analyses, Neopaxillus, a genus formerly placed in Boletales, is considered within Agaricales and it is basal or sister to Crepidotus (Crepidotaceae).
