Abstract

Pseudofusicoccum species were collected from branches and twigs of Hevea brasilliensis in Phayao Province, northern Thailand. Pseudofusicoccum adansoniae and P. ardesiacum were identified and are new records for Hevea brasilliensis. Pseudofusicoccum is known only by its asexual morph. Here, we describe the sexual morph for P. adansoniae. The sexual morph is characterized by immersed, uniloculate ascomata, cylindric-clavate asci with a long pedicel, well-developed ocular chamber and short clavate, hyaline, aseptate ascospores, surrounded by a mucilaginous sheath. The connection between the sexual and asexual morph of P. adansoniae was confirmed by phylogenetic analyses of a combined ITS, LSU, TEF1 and β-tubulin dataset. Descriptions, illustrations and molecular data are provided for the taxa.
