Erysiphe eucalypticola and Phyllactinia lagerstroemiae, are proposed based on combinations of morphological data and molecular phylogeny inferred from ITS and 28S rRNA gene sequences. Erysiphe eucalypticola is genetically distinct from all other species of Erysiphe s. lat. based on ITS and 28S rRNA gene sequences, and morphologically differs from other powdery mildews on Eucalyptus in having conidia produced in singly, multilobed conidial germ tubes (Pseudoidium type), shorter conidiophores, and smaller foot cells. Phyllactinia lagerstroemiae is the first species from the basal Phyllactinieae group found outside of North and South America, and differs from other basal Phyllactinieae group members such as Ph. leveilluloides, Ph. angulata, and Ph. chubutiana in having longer conidiophore foot cells and conidiophores in general, but shorter conidiophore foot cells and conidiophores in total than in Ph. obclavata.} }
