abstract = {Thailiomyces gen. nov. (Diaporthales) is described from senescent trunks of a palm (Licuala longicalycata) in a peat swamp. Phylogenetic analyses of Thailiomyces was undertaken, with partial SSU and LSU rDNA sequences. Our morphological and molecular results show that this genus is well placed in the Diaporthales. However, it is not related to Diaporthe the genus it most closely resembles morphologically. It differs from Diaporthe species in number of characters: partially immerse to superficial ascomata, ascospore measurements, bipolar appendages, not surrounded by a mucilaginous sheath, and with Craspedodidymum licualae Pinruan as its anamorph.}
