abstract = {The fungus, named B9, was isolated from rotten wood in the coastal area of Qinzhou City, China. Based on morphological characters and molecular analysis, B9 was identified as Umbelopsis isabellina. The supernatant fermented fluid of B9 showed antibacterial activity against Bacillus cereus and Vibrio parahaemolyticus, and the metabolite extracted from mycelium showed strong activity against all five tested strains, including Escherichia coli, Bacillus cereus, Arthrobacter nicotianae, Klebsiella peneumoniae and Vibrio parahaemolyticus. For antifungal activity, the metabolite extracted from mycelium, not the supernatant fermented fluid?shown to be significantly inhibitory to four tested strains (Eurotium rubrum, Alternaria sp., Lasiodiplodia pseudotheobromae, Diaporthe phaseolorum) except Pestalotiopsis microspora. This is the first report on the antimicrobial potentials of Umbelopsis isabellina strain isolated from marine environment and exhibits brilliant future for biological control.}
