abstract = {Aucuba japonica (Japanese aucuba), native to Japan, is an evergreen shrub distributed in the Japanese Archipelago and cultivated worldwide as a garden plant. A powdery mildew with Pseudoidium-type asexual morph commonly occurs on this species, but because of lacking sexual stage taxonomic placement of this fungus has long been unclear. A new species Erysiphe aucubae is proposed for this fungus with molecular phylogeny and morphological descriptions of asexual morph.}
