abstract = {Abstract Two new species, Pseudopyricularia hyrcaniana and P. javanii are described, illustrated and discussed. Sequencing and analyses of the large subunit (LSU) of ribosomal RNA genes, the internal transcribed spacer (ITS), largest subunit of RNA polymerase II (RPB1) and Calmodulin (CAL) genes confirmed their placement in Pseudopyricularia. Pseudopyricularia hyrcaniana was isolated as a pathogen from infected leaves of Cyperus alternifolius, while P. javanii was from Juncus effusus. Conidia of P. hyrcaniana are obpyriform or obclavate and
1-septate; those of P. javanii are fusiform or cylindrical, and 2-septates, that distinguish two species from each other and species. Analysis of multigene sequences confirm the distinction between P. hyrcaniana and P. javanii and reveal their relationship with the allies in Pyriculariaceae.
