abstract = {In this study we report the first case of human disease caused by yeast Trichosporon veenhuisii (Apiotrichum veenhuisii), as well as the study of virulence and in vitro behavior against antifungals. The sample was isolated from biopsy fragments of disseminated lesions on the skin of a pediatric patient with acute myeloid leukemia. The study of the virulence factors showed that the strain was not able to produce the enzymes proteinase, phospholipase and hemolysin. The isolate was characterized as low biofilm producer. With the exception of amphotericin B and voriconazole, the sample presented high values of minimum inhibitory concentration against azole and echinocandins.}
