abstract = {The taxonomy of genera within Teichosporaceae is controversial. Some authors have recognised several genera in this family, whereas others have only recognised one genus, Teichospora. In this study, 30 strains of Teichosporaceae were obtained. Morphological examination and phylogenetic analyses based SSU-ITS-LSU nrDNA, tef1, and rpb2 sequences showed that species in this family should be classified in 13 genera. Of the nine genera that were once synonymised with Teichospora, eight genera (Asymmetrispora, Aurantiascoma, Floricola, Magnibotryascoma, Misturatosphaeria, Pseudoaurantiascoma, Pseudomisturatosphaeria, and Ramusculicola) except Neocurreya were considered to be distinct genera. Neocurreya was treated as a synonym of Teichospora, whereas Paulkirkia was accepted as a valid genus. Three new genera (Neomisturatosphaeria, Paramagnibotryascoma, and Phlyctemopsis), six new species (Aurantiascoma pseudominimum, Floricola sasae, Paramagnibotryascoma yakushimense, Paulkirkia homothallica, Phlyctemopsis appendiculata, and Phlyctemopsis ryukyuensis), and nine new combinations were described and proposed in this family. Additionally, epitypes were designated for Floricola striatospora (basionym: Hendersonia striatospora) and Neomisturatosphaeria yezoensis (basionym: Melomastia yezoensis). Some groups with relatively complex conidial features, such as Floricola (with phragmosporous, pigmented conidia), Paulkirkia (with didymo- or phragmosporous pigmented conidia), and Phlyctemopsis (with filamentous conidia), were considered as distinct genera. These results indicated that asexual morphs are important taxonomic indicators for evaluating the phylogenetic relationships of genera in Teichosporaceae.}
