Abstract
Metabolite foot print analysis of five members of the genus Spirochaeta indicated the presence of several important bio-molecules of pharmaceutical significance. The statistical interpretation indicated metabolite variations among the two newly isolated strains compared to the three type strains of the genus Spirochaeta. Significant metabolite variations between JC202T and JC227T isolated from hind gut of insects led to polyphasic characterization of the strains and resulted in the proposal to describe two novel species, Spirochaeta odontotermitis sp. nov. and Spirochaeta periplanata sp. nov.
