We performed a molecular phylogenetic analysis including seven species of Heterosperma and related taxa, using plastid and nuclear sequences. The results indicated that Heterosperma is monophyletic if Coreopsis cyclocarpa is included in the genus, so the new combination Heterosperma cyclocarpum is proposed.
