abstract = {The phylogenetic relationships in Mormodes were assessed by means of Maximum Parsimony and Bayesian Inference analyses of DNA sequence data from noncoding nuclear (ITS) and plastid (trnL-trnF) DNA sequences, plus 25 morphological characters. Monophyly of Mormodes is strongly supported, as well as two main clades referred to as sections Mormodes and Coryodes. There is a strong geographic component in the phylogeny, with more or less distinctive Mexican, Mesoamerican, Andean and Amazonian clades.}
