abstract = {Neopestalotiopsis is well known to be associated with the diseases of grapevine in China. A new fungal species, Neopestalotiopsis vitis was isolated from the grape leaf spot in Guangxi province, China. Initially, small circular slightly sunken necrotic spots develop on the leaf surface, mainly in the inter-vein regions. Later, the spots enlarge rapidly and become brittle with age. Phylogenetic species recognition based on multilocus analysis of the ITS, TUB2 and tef1 combined gene sequences coupled with morphology distinguished N. vitis from other species in the genus. This is the first report of Neopestalotiopsis species causing a disease on leaves of grapevine in China.}
