abstract = {The distribution of four species of Carbinea new genus in the Wet Tropics region of northern Queensland documents the species' richness and local endemism. The new species are C. longiscapa, C. breviscapa, C. wunderlichi and C. robertsi. They are placed in the sub-family Kababininae which is removed frorn the Amphinectidae (Davies 1995) as there is evidence that it does not belong there. The placement of this clade rernains problematical.}
