Three strains formed a distinct clade in D1/D2 LSU rDNA tree being most related to B. attinorum (92 % similarity), B. proliferans (91%) and B. nivea (90%). The strains showed phenotypic properties in common and were distinguished from B. nivea, B. aristata, and B. proliferans. According to these results the name Blastobotrysmeliponaeis proposed for the new species.} }
